The Business Line Manager

Our objective is to put the power of Business Process Management into the hands of the Business Line Manager [the process owner & the person with the problem]. They are the ones responsible for their processes and they are the ones that will be rewarded for their process improvements.

The Business Line Manager, being the owner of the process, knows the process; they know the steps that take place; they know who performs what tasks; they know how long these tasks will take; they know where escalations should go; they have an idea of the shortcomings of the process; etc.

IT typically provides hardware and software expertise. Their focus is on infrastructure not processes. Their job is to set up hardware, install software and provide technical services to Business Line Managers. They are not the process experts.
